I started to answer the question, Does anything constructive come out of gaming? at 9rules.com. This is the result
I have been gaming since before it was online. RPG with dice. I still make time to play daily. It helps with my thought processes.
I primarily have done business modeling. The gaming time helps me step away from immediate issues and more.
There is a lot more to it. Especially RPG games.
Character building builds character. Right action is rewarded and vice versa.
Gaming instills team working, networking and a number of -ing skills. Gaming builds confidence and perseverance.
I have often read other gamers or parents of gamers talk about advanced problem solving strengths derived from game play.
In my life I have made my living from problem solving. Understanding complex concepts.
I have witnessed non gamers giving up rather quickly and gamers attempting several combinations to solve a problem before giving up in the real world.
In fact, a gamer will put something down and come back to it later continuing to try other possible solutions.
At times I have had to make clear we where going a different way. Where the non gamer had already given up, unless I called it dead the gamer would continue to work on possible solutions even on their own time.
A gamer sees this as a challenge and something exciting, the non gamer sees only work.
So, Do I and other gamers I work with have a natural propensity for these attributes?

LANDRUSH Stake your Claim in Virtual Reality
Remember the old time movies or even Tom Cruise was in one with Nicole Kidman. Everyone lined up at the edge of town with their horses and buggies and whatever else. When the gun went off there was a mad dash, always somebody would crash. 
Well that starting gun went off a long while back in Virtual Reality. In many instances of corporate revisionist history, that gun goes off everyday. The virtual world is showing sophomoric signs of growth IMHO.
The Virtual World of Second Life with it’s 1.3 million users doing over $600,000 dollars a day in business, $7.4 million in September selling virtual created items. These are numbers that can no longer be ignored even by the IT community. They shouldn’t be ignored by anyone else.
In fact many in the IT world launching initiatives in Second Life town hall meetings. Recently Sun announcing it’s open source initiative for Java held a developer Q&A inside Second Life, story reported by Computerworld here. It seems that many in the IT Java community are not embracing the new world. Not to mention the old media companies who are fuming at no longer being able to dismiss this as a fad. News being released inside a virtual world forcing journalists to take part if they want to report. How dare they?

World Of Warcraft Online Gaming Parents Guide
Well I have made a decision to create my second product which will be a ”3D Career Guide”. This will be a little different though. I plan to create this in audio format with a text version of the resources. This will allow for quicker development.
This 3D Career Guide besides being a review of the different schools and what I see is their strengths and weaknesses will also give a detailed report as to the nature of the market.

New Product “3D Career Guide”
Hope you enjoyed your Halloween. I did. Watching the news prior to going out reminded me of something I saw in one of Michael Moore’s movies. Not that I subscribe to his politics or any politics for that matter. But he made a great point, that the media in this country used fear to get viewership. How the whole poisoned candy or razor blade apple was hype from the media. The only examples of that ever happening was once someone did that to his own kids.
Still the myth has been perpectuated to this day. The news broadcast was full of warnings and how sex predators were using halloween as a lure to get kids, full story next after some ads.
